Hackney Enterprise Network (HEN) is proud to sponsor the New Business Category of the Thames Gateway Business Awards 2006.

Hackney Enterprise Network (HEN) is the fastest growing business network in north-east London with over 270 members across the borough and beyond, spanning a wide variety of industry sectors and ethnicities. HEN also works closely with other business networks across the Thames Gateway Region to improve business opportunities for our members.

New businesses need all the help they can get to establish themselves and grow in their early years, so that they can be the business leaders of tomorrow. Membership of the Network gives them a leg up and the opportunity to learn from those with more experience.

Hackney Enterprise Network strengthens the voice of small businesses across the region. HEN helps organisations develop and succeed by creating a forum for the exchange of business knowledge and ideas. It brings businesses together to trade.

Bringing business people together is what the network is all about. HEN provides support, advice and business opportunities for all sizes from new start-ups to large established business.

The Network runs regular business breakfasts giving members the chance to make their pitch to other organisations over coffee and croissants. Half day events and evening sessions on burning issues of the day provide practical advice and training in dealing with business issues. Specialist business briefings give members the key facts on important developments in legislation and regulation in the business world.

Meet the Buyer and Business Match-making events help establish and grow local supply chains, giving smaller businesses a chance to meet with larger organisations and become part of their supply chains.

International trade visits with pre-visit support and training help members to forge new relationships with overseas suppliers and markets, boosting trade.

The Hackney Business Awards and sponsorship of other awards such as The New Business Category of the Thames Gateway Awards, gives members a chance to demonstrate their success, share best practice and publicise their products and services to a wider audience.

Financial help for businesses is available via the network, in the form of grants, awards, financial advice and the search for investment. Hackney Enterprise Network runs a small grants programme for businesses in Hackney. Grants of £3,500 to £5,000 are available via a competitive process, with grants being awarded to the best 3 to 5 businesses every 2 months, by a local panel of entrepreneurs, bank managers and business experts.

Specialist business advice is available to members. HEN run topical seminars and workshops for issues that are relevant in today's business world as well as events targeted at specific sectors of industry. The wide variety of industry and ethnicity that members represent means that members can trade knowledge and contacts with like-minded business professionals from differing backgrounds.
