Gateway to London (GTL) is the Inward Investment and Business Retention Agency for Thames Gateway London (TGL).
Responsible for securing jobs and investment in Europe's largest growth area, GTL's role is fundamental to the success of the regeneration of the region. We work on the ground with local companies, helping them to expand and grow, and we help bring new business to the area from both the UK and abroad.
We help companies to make the right move, securing appropriate property, accessing grants where available and supporting them throughout the process. This support can range from assistance with planning issues and accessing skilled labour, to facilitating introductions and access to extensive business support networks. And of course our services are free - with funding provided by both the public and private sector.
Since we were established in 2002, we have worked with a huge range of organisations and are highly optimistic about the opportunities available here for new and existing firms.
So what have we learned? TGL has a great offer for business, able to satisfy the requirements of general and specialist business sectors. Within the region there are established business and specialist research clusters from a wide variety of sectors, whose combined knowledge and assets are an invaluable resource. With a labour pool of 3.6 million and 3 major universities, combined with the lowest employment costs in London, TGL has an unparalleled, available skills base. In addition, a s part of the most exciting and dynamic city in the world, the area has the fastest growing transport infrastructure in the UK with impressive national and international connections.
We already have world class developments including Canary Wharf, the Royals Business Park and the Greenwich Peninsula. In the pipeline we have many more important developments including Silvertown Quays which has been granted planning permission this year, Gallions Reach in Beckton, Millennium Quarter and Stratford City. The area's offer to businesses in relation to sites, facilities and services is already very competitive, and with support, it will continue to improve and our businesses grow and prosper.
